My name is Harvey and I'm a software engineer and web developer living in London. I've recently graduated from UCL through the Urban Analytics MSc programme and I hold a Bachelor of Engineering from Sheffield.
As an engineer, I am motivated to understand and solve problems — combining my technical know-how with innovative methods to produce an elegant software solution. My goal is to build applications that are efficient and scalable, and I aspire to a career that will allow me to craft engaging user-centric products.
Aside from programming, I am an amateur producer, coffee aficionado, fitness lover, aspiring writer, and I love to skii!View My Resume
A full-stack app built with React to streamline the job application process for tech grads. An algorithm is used to filter entry-level jobs from several external APIs before delivering to the client. The application is deployed through Google Cloud and updated hourly using Cron.js.
A data exploration platform, built through A-Frame and THREE.js, to visualise complex urban datasets in an immersive VR environment. As it is cumbersome to visualise multiple datasets simultaneously in traditional 2D/3D environments, I decided to utilise VR environments as a more immersive method of exploring several datasets at once.
Sterling Press are an alternative four-piece band based in London. I designed and developed their official website using Gatsby to leverage server-side-rendering to achieve a fast and seamless mobile experience. I implemented a custom countdown component to engage their audience and relay information regarding future song releases.
Bring Your Own Map (BYOM) is a cartography community promoting democratic data science. I worked on implementing several webpages alongside the user authentication system with Firebase.
A very simple To-Do list app. I was interested in learning React, so I created this very simple app to make a minimal to-do list.
The first iteration of my personal site (What you are scrolling through!) I tried to avoid using superfluous frameworks like Bootstrap and jQuery to improve my HTML and CSS skills.
Final project for my Spatial Data, Capture, and Storage module at UCL. A full-stack web application that allows users to visualise the hidden impact of trees in London. I used the Google Maps API to visualise the spatial data alongside custom UI elements to display the predicted future impact of the trees.
